Rooted in the banks of the Rhone River for over 2000 years, the vineyards of the Rhône Valley extend over 200 km, from Avignon to Vienne. As early as the 1st century AD, the vineyard was in competition with Italy. After a long period of inactivity, the vineyard was once again cultivated in the 16th century under the reign of the Popes installed in Avignon. The first casks stamped with the letters C.D.R. appeared in the 17th century - three letters burned into the wood to designate Côtes du Rhône, a guarantee of the origin and quality of the wine (by royal decree of 10/09/1737).
In the heart of the fragrant vegetation of the garrigue, oaks, pines and olive trees, the terroirs of the Rhone Valley benefit from an exceptional Mediterranean climate: a wide range of temperatures, draught, violent storms and the wind - the Mistral.
An incomparable variety of soils, climates and grape varieties contribute to making this area the birthplace of these prestigious appellations.
Our 100-year-old estate in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard, our thorough knowledge of the terroirs and our wide range of experience make it possible for us to be the privileged partners of the vintners. This close partnership between our oenologists and the vintners provides them with the necessary tools to carry out every aspect of their day-to-day work, from vineyard management to the actual winemaking: thinning, de-budding, yield management.
Our oenologists are responsible for the blends, where Grenache - the king of the grapes of the southern Rhone Valley - is dominant. This grape variety gives birth to wines that are round, powerful and elegant, with a complex and varied range of aromas, depending on the terroir.
The wines are aged to perfect maturity in the company's wine cellars or at the estate where our oenologists keep a close eye on the wine as it matures in casks and large barrels, with due respect for the grape varieties and their typicity.
